We choose Euro since it is the most used currency in our store. The solution will convert to your currency so you get both points and discounts in the same amount, but converted to your currency. 

There are (at least) three good ways to find the right size for you:

1. Compare your body measurements with our size guide. Choose which size to make based on the size guide - however we recommend to check the  garment measurements as well to secure a good fit. For that, click on "size chart" (or sizing and fit) on the product page and a popup page reveals the measurements and some guidance.

If you are between two sizes, measure a favourite garment in your wardrobe and then compare it with our garment measurements. Also, if still unsure we suggest to choose the larger one since it is easier to make a garment smaller than larger.

2. Dive into the review part on the product page. All our wonderful reviewers evaluate the sizing. To get to the reviews part, scroll down or click on the rating. Here you'll find an overview of what makers thought about the sizing and fit.

3. Join our community on Facebook.  The TAL Sewing Community is full of kind and helpful makers who can guide you on many subjects.

We have decided to make two size ranges, fitted on two different bodies. The reason for this is that we believe that the body does not change linear as the body grows larger and that the grading and base patterns needs to be adapted to this. The larger size range is therefore adapted to a curvier body.

The first TAL patterns only included the smaller size range, but the plan is to make all patterns available in XS-L and XL-2XL or XL-3XL. It’s not a straightforward process of grading up from our existing size range, new blocks need to be created and tested. 

At the same time we wish to develop new designs, so this is an ongoing, parallell process.
Please bear with us while we work through our range, since we wish to make all patterns the best they can be.

The garment sample is drafted for someone 168-170 cm tall. 

If you need to return your paper pattern for any reason, we'll happily provide you with an exchange or full refund. We offer a 14 day return policy on your order, based on the date you received your product. 

The item being returned must be un-used, un-opened in full original packaging and undamaged. We do not accept returns due to change of heart on any cut pattern.

To return your product, you first get in touch with us at hello@theassemblylineshop.com to get further instructions and address details. You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item.

If you are shipping an item, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 30 days. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of shipping will be deducted from your refund.

All digital products are non refundable.

A PDF pattern comes as a zipped file including paper size A4, US Letter and A0.

Digital patterns are PDF files that you receive instantly (in our shop and by email) after purchasing! They are ready to print at home (A4 or US Letter) or at a printshop (A0). Simply purchase your digital pattern from our webshop. Once your purchase is complete, either download the zipped file that shows on your confirmation page in our shop or pop along to the email address you used when purchasing the product, choose View order in the order confirmation and you'll be directed to the download page. Unzipping files is a common task, and the process may vary slightly depending on the device and operating system you're using. Here's a general guide for unzipping files on various devices:

Windows

Using File Explorer:

1. Locate the zipped folder.
2. Right-click on the zipped folder.
3. Select "Extract All..."
4. Choose the destination where you want to extract the files.
5. Click "Extract."

Mac

Using Finder:

1. Locate the zipped folder.
2. Double-click on the zipped folder.
3. The contents will be extracted to the same location.

You can download the pattern as many times as you like, but we suggest you save it to your computer.

There is no expiration date on download links, but updates made may cause the links to no longer work. Contact customerservice@theassemblylineshop.com if you need a new link to your purchased PDF pattern.

All our A4 and US Letter PDF patterns are layered. 

For those of you who already bought one of our digital patterns you will receive an email with an updated download link. 

There is a 10cm square on one of the pages of the PDF pattern that looks like this:

You are only going to print this page first. It is critical that when this page is printed the 10cm square measures exactly 10cm.

- Make sure your paper is ready and in the printer straight. If your printer has paper guides make sure they are set correctly and holding your paper straight

- Go to print settings and Select “actual size” / “fit” / “custom scale 100%” or "None" if you have a drop-down default choice set to 'Fit to printable area'.

- Orientation should be “portrait”

- Print only the page that has the 10cm square

- Measure the square with a ruler / measuring tape and, if perfect, print the rest of the pattern (make sure the print settings haven’t changed). 

If it is not measuring 10cm, adjust the scaling on your printer settings and try again until you reach the perfect 10cm square and then print the rest of the pattern.

We have started to make all our PDF patterns into layered PDF patterns. You'll find more information on each product page/format. 

Layered PDF sewing patterns allow you to print only the size you are intending to use, to save you some effort when using and cutting the pattern. If you are new to this system, here is a quick guide that will show you all the steps.

A layered PDF, to put it simply, is like a bunch of files put on top of each other. You can choose which one of those layers you want to see and print and which are the ones you want to hide. This makes it easier to print the pattern size/s that you wish to use.

How to print a layered PDF sewing pattern

There are many PDF programs you can use and most have a Layer feature but in this guide, we will be using the most popularly used, and the standard among the PDF readers, which is Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download it for free from Adobe .

1. Locate the Layers icon

After opening your PDF pattern on Adobe Acrobat, you can see on the left-hand side a toolbar with a few icons.

Click on the Layers icon, the one that looks like a stack of papers, to view all the layers nestled in the PDF pattern.

Tick the eye icon to toggle the visibility of the layer, when the eye icon is on that means the layer is visible and when the eye icon is absent the layer is hidden.

2. Hide and view sizes

Untick the layers of the sizes that you don’t want to print and just keep the size you need visible.

Tip: If you want to grade between sizes, check all those sizes. You don’t have to print just one!

Always keep the “Pattern information” layer visible along with any size that you wish to print.

When you're ready to print follow our steps on how to construct your PDF pattern .

First, only print the INSTRUCTION file to A4 or (instead of printing it) you could follow the instruction manual on your screen.

There is a 10cm square on one of the first pages of the PDF pattern and you are only going to print this page first. It is critical that when this page is printed the 10cm square measures exactly 10cm.

If it is not measuring 10cm, adjust the scaling on your printer settings and try again until you reach the perfect 10cm square and then print the rest of the pattern.

This requires some patience, glue (or tape but we prefer glue as tape may melt when ironed) and a sharp pair of paper scissors.

The first page is your pattern layout guide, showing you how to fit your pieces together. Use this guide when laying out your pages.

On the dashed borders, cut accurately along the bottom and right hand side line on each page.

Don’t worry if the pattern pieces look like they are upside down, just ensure that your numbers on each page are the right way up!

Once they are all cut out, take your layout guide and start laying out the first row.

You’ll notice that each page has a large triangle on all sides of the page. These match up to the corresponding page so that you can fit these pages together accurately.

Don’t go crazy with glue and tape, match up the half triangles at top and side of the paper whilst checking that the pattern markings match up too. You only need enough glue to hold them gently together. Too much glue and you may struggle to line up the pieces.

Go slowly and methodically work your way across each piece from left to right.

Then start on the next row, joining each piece to the top first, and then adding on the next piece in the row. 

Once completed, check your pattern pieces are all correct, cut out your pieces and you’re ready!

TROUBLE SHOOTING

The pattern pieces fit together along the sides but not along the bottom (or vice versa)

This is down to how the paper is being fed into your printer. Check whether your printer has guides that hold the paper in place as these will help to feed the paper through accurately. Still having a problem? You may need to use a different printer to get better accuracy.

PDF products are not returnable or refundable. 

We ship all our paper patterns trackable, with Postnord.

After we've dispatched your order you should receive an email from Postnord with a tracking reference. As soon as the parcel arrives in your country you can use the same tracking reference to follow your shipment through your National Post tracking service.
